RuneScape Discussion
- Loadout: T80 ranged/magic/melee gear
- T80 weapons with T70 power armor fine for duo/trio, t90+ recommended but not needed for solo
- Kerapac starts with 200,000 LP moves onto the next phase when hitting 50,000 LP.
- Shatter (staff attack) - “I’ll tear right through you” - Kerapac will raise his staff, stun the player, and a rift will open at the opposite end of the arena. This rift will emit damaging green energy that will hurt the player if they do not move out of the way.
- Jumping slam (jump attack) - “You will break beneath me” - Kerapac will jump into the air and land on the player and stun them + root in place dealing rapid melee damage. The rapid melee damage will stop immediately after the player moves away from melee distance. This can be avoided by using freedom and then anticipate for the subsequent attacks. The move happens 3 times. The stun effect can be removed by upgrading the Pontifex Shadow ring with 1,000 Resonant Shadow Anima of Jas. As more time threads are added there will be copies of Kerapac that do this attack but those do not stun even if the ring has not been upgraded. Devotion? Pray melee? This mechanic can also be avoided entirely with precise escape/surge timing. When timed correctly, it causes escape/surge to reset, so you can do this for each of the 3 attacks without taking any damage.
- Lightning strike (lightning rows) - “Witness the power of the Staff!” Kerapac raises the staff and a wall of lightning appears. The wall of lightning will deal damage if the player is inside it or off to the side of it despite there being no visual effect. Surge/escape through the lightning, take one hit. As more time threads are added there will be more lightning walls.
- If you do enough damage, the special attacks can be completely avoided - the cycle is the same for each of the phases. If you damage him quickly enough, it’s possible to get none of the special attacks.
- In solo with a high tier setup, I rarely ever got to the jumping slam mechanic.
- Attack rotation: 3 auto-attacks, Shatter, 3 auto-attacks, Jumping Slam, 3 auto-attacks, Lightning Strike, 7 auto-attacks, Repeats from Shatter
- In phase 4 Kerapac will become enraged and will deal more damage through protection prayers. Devotion or enhanced devoted will mitigate this damage.
- The Nodon Front: Kerapac, the Bound (Hard)
- Adds new rewards (staff of armadyl pieces)
- The first three phases of the fight are the same as normal mode with a few differences
- The rift that launches lightning at the player will be attackable with 15k LP, it will periodically shoot at the player unless killed
- There is a third wall of lightning added. [Seems like one wall per phase, regardless of mode- Thax]
- Bladed dive to escape lightning highly recommended - it can be skipped with high damage but is much more deadly in hardmode given the third wall
- Kerapac becomes enraged - this happens for a very short time at the end of normal mode, but happens for the entirety of a much longer phase in hardmode and he hits like a truck.
- Kerapac will create three echoes of himself and the player (clones) and you have to switch between them to balance damage with your clones health. If one of your echoes dies, Kerapac will gain enrage, causing even more damage. (You can easily take 4k hits through prayer, but this is likely because players are meant to be using the time warp mechanic in solo mode to avoid most of the damage).
- The time warp mechanic really shines for this phase - you can use it to quickly kill an echo then when you’re reset it can help you repeat the same high damage rotation for the next. This functions as free health as well as effectively doubling the length of debilitate/devotion/other defensives.
- Rift skip
- Phase transition vulnerability to non-ability damage
- Killcount quick chat functionality
- Training points
- Elder Troves
- Light Animica
- Soul runes
- Greater Concentrated Blast
- Scripture of Jas
- Kerapac’s wrist wraps
- Staff of Armadyl - The hotfix (HM)
- Listener Questions
Question from Ricky A
I really like that with normal mode you can get all the drops. I wonder what your thoughts are on this: what if on normal mode you get all the drops you do now but have a drastically lower chance to get the tier 95 weapon? Is that fair or should it stick to hard mode?
I really enjoyed the update and it’s been made more accessible for a lot more people and I really enjoy the voice acting and I wish this could go further.
Question from Choto
Hoods, my fellow nerds. This week we saw the release of the Nodon Front, and...oh my god.
I'm that kind of player that never cares about boss updates or pvm content in general, but today, I just went to a Kerapac session because, why not? And it was amazing. It's the first noob-friendly boss in a long time, and there is good lore attached to it as well! I couldn't take him down solo (I was really close), but duo was great. It combines abilities and your own skill as a player, and it drops sweet things! My two questions are the following:
1) If you haven't tried it yet, what is the main obstacle for you when it comes to putting your mind in pvm mode? If so, what’s different with this boss?
2) Kerapac is Jas' 'general'. Do you think we'll get other dragonkin too for the rest of the upcoming Elder Gods bosses? Who will they be?
Thank you, have a great week, and keep up this RuneScape shrine!
