Pirate Party Wins [a seat] and Enters The European Parliament

When the Swedish Pirate Party was founded in early 2006, the majority of the mainstream press were skeptical, with some simply laughing it away. But they were wrong to dismiss this political movement out of hand. Today, the Pirate Party accomplished what some believed to be the impossible, by securing a seat in the European Parliament.

With 99.9% of the districts counted the Pirates have 7.1 percent of the votes, beating several established parties. This means that the Pirate Party will get at least one, but most likely two of the 18 (+2) available seats Sweden has at the European Parliament.

The Sims 3 Sells 1.4 Million In First Week

They say its the player who controls them, but judging from initial sales of EA Play's latest installment of the best-selling SIMS franchise, its them who controls us. The Sims 3 has sold an astounding 1.4 million copies for the PC/Mac platform in its first week of availability and a boon for the home computer gaming market, and EA's best-selling PC game launch in history.

EA also mentioned that over 7 million downloads of player created content have been moving across the digital divide, including the Sims themselves, houses, and even stories. Developed by Will Wright, the franchise has moved over 100 million units since launching in 2000, making it one of the best-selling franchises in videogame history.
